Thoughts on US–Israeli Attack on Iran

Against the assessments US- Israel went ahead with the attack which seemingly contradicts the outcomes of the recent talks, during which the Iranian foreign minister categorically stated that Iran would not pursue a nuclear bomb. Major financial incentives for America — including proposed involvement in controlling Iran’s oil and gas sector — were reportedly introduced into the discussions. This raises the question: why proceed with military action?

The military action, however, appears unrelated to the talks themselves. Instead, it seems aimed at facilitating a leadership transition in Iran — one that requires external pressure to materialise. Especially now that her key client Iran's spiritual and defacto leader Ali Khameini is old and in ill health.

Although Donald Trump has clearly stated regime change as a primary objective and has called upon the Iranian people to assume control following military operations, there is no coherent opposition capable of leading such a transition. Consequently, the responsibility would fall upon Iran’s military establishment, particularly the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

This interpretation is reinforced by the fact that Trump has directly threatened the IRGC and called on them to surrender. Yet such a surrender cannot realistically occur through airstrikes alone; historically, it would require American troops on the ground, as was the case in Iraq.

However, this possibility has been publicly negated by Trump. As The New York Times states:

"It is a high-risk move: There are almost no successful examples in modern history of regime change through an air campaign. But administration officials, including Vice President JD Vance, have made clear they imagine a swift campaign with no U.S. troops on the ground" (28/02/26)

If ground deployment is off the table, the military action appears designed to provide facilitation, cover, and legitimacy for an American-backed political transition within Iran. Such a transition would likely require pre-positioned actors. One figure frequently mentioned in this context is former IRGC head Ali Larijani, alleged to have been positioned by Khaneini as a key decision-maker and aligned with American interests.

Regarding Iran’s military response, it has been characterized as largely symbolic. Many targeted U.S. bases in the Gulf had reportedly been evacuated in advance, and the missiles launched against Israel appeared rudimentary. This was also the case when Israel and America struck Iran's nuclear facilities last July. As the Financial Times observed;

"When the US struck Iran in June last year, Tehran’s response was swift, but was choreographed with Washington to avoid escalation which Trump thanked them for. Air defences shot down Iranian missiles aimed at Al Udeid, which had been emptied." (28/2/26)

This account suggests that the strikes may have been calibrated to avoid full-scale escalation. From this perspective, the military exchanges could be interpreted as managed confrontation rather than uncontrolled conflict.

It is also notable that Britain did not participate in the military action and reportedly refused to allow the United States to use its bases in the UK or at Diego Garcia. Meanwhile, Britain is said to have positioned Reza Pahlavi, son of the former Shah of Iran and currently residing in Washington, as a symbolic opposition figure. However, Washington and Trump have given him little visible credibility.

In summary, with a fragmented and leaderless opposition and negotiations reportedly aligned with American strategic interests, the military strikes can be interpreted as an effort to protect the outcome of the talks through engineering a political transition in Iran — most probably through the military, one that would maintain and restructure American influence and control.

Thoughts on Iran

Iran is such a paradox - a theological utopia and a tyrannical dystopia - both at the same time. Iranian clergy continues to rule for nearly five decades which is not possible in today’s world without compliance and complicity to the Zionist Agenda. They didn’t let Mussadiq or Shah to rule over Iran soon as they conflicted with economic interests of The Agenda. Hence, clergy was installed and Regan paid money to the regime to delay release of US Embassy hostages in Tehran till his inauguration so that he could get credit for it.

Sooner than later TACO (Trump Always Chickens Out) & KHACO (Khomeini Always Chickens Out) will come to pass.

So many reasons to support this:

Iran in Roy Casagranda’s opinion is wag the dog situation - a diversion from Epstein saga.

In the eventuality of war between US and Iran, the world economy will take serious hit if oil stops flowing from Straits of Hormuz. Oil prices could soar to a point that we in Pakistan shall be taking bicycles or traditional horse/ donkey carts to reach offices.

With World Cup in June, can US afford to attack Iran and then wrap it up achieving clean break from Iran in three months- highly unlikely. Why would US present China and Russia dreamlike situation by getting embroiled in Iran - something US/ west is doing to Russia in Ukraine. Besides, US has a history of humiliating defeats in protracted wars against Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.

If you wish to track war, track money - Financial Times reported that Iran had offered the U.S. major economic incentives, potentially worth trillions of dollars through investments in its vast oil and gas reserves.

Then there is the cliche - The Devil You Know - why would they take the risk of replacing compliant  clergy with Raza Shah or any other puppets when they can’t afford/ don’t want to put boots on ground which can leave Iran in a greater mess if Civil War breaks out. There are so many disenfranchised ethnic groups from Kurds in NE, Arabs in South, Baloch in West, Azerbaijanis in North, Uzbeks in NE and angry leftist Persians in Middle country.

US/ Israel have already taken out the hawks in regime like Sulemani and neutralised proxies like Hizbollah and Hamas. Historically, US/ Israel never went on all out attack on Iran and vice versa. During Hamas conflict in last couple of years, US carried out surgical strikes on Iran and Iran fired few firecrackers on Israel with due warning and reaction time mitigating potential losses. They need subdued Iran as scarecrow in the region to keep Arabs in check and foster this valuable sectarian wedge in ME.

Popular narrative that Israel is coercing US to launch attack on Iran is a smokescreen. Iran doesn’t fall in greater Israel map as mentioned by Huckerby in his infamous rather preposterous interview with Tucker. Besides, Iran hosts second largest Jew population in ME after Israel who enjoy complete religious freedom and live in peace and harmony under the regime as opposed to extremely oppressed Sunnis in the country.

Iran has openly promised ‘no nuclear weapons’ and current belligerency shall pave the way for discussions on lifting sanctions and enabling U.S. investment in Iran’s energy sector.

To conclude, continued public rhetoric from both sides — including references to military buildups and Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities — serves to project strength domestically while preserving the appearance of independence and sovereignty to the Iranian regime as negotiations conclude.

Our favourite buzzword ‘Notion of Victory’ shall prevail on both sides while in reality TACO & KHACO take effect.

Random Thoughts - 12 Feb 26

The world is hostage to the triangle - military industrial complex, financial industrial complex  and tech industrial complex. Ideologies including theology and isms including socialism, capitalism, patriotism etc (except Zionism) are meant for our footballification (a term coined by James O’Brien). The shackles are so strong and we are so lost, confused and unorganised that despite two billion we amount to nothing.

During Umrah this month, offered Juma Mubarakah each at each Haram. Imam-e-Kaaba prayed for long time and prosperity of his masters; Al Sauds and Imam at Harm-e-Nabi cried for Palestine- would my Master (SAW) be crying on His pulpit or else. And I got this sinking feeling as if 360 idols are back in Kaaba.

Welcoming spring with Basant has been a cool tradition but not so cool when innocent blood is being spilt on western borders and not to mention heinous suicidal in capital. Punjabis were out of sync with the rest of the country and like our rulers appeared indifferent to the grieving countrymen and disconnected with grim realities of our country.

Enactment of 55 C in Army Act is hailed as a step in the right direction as shown by the ordnance compass which may differ with moral compass and 55 C shall help remove ICE (Individual Compass Error). No wonder Map Reading analogy popped up because not only I scored 99 out of 100 in the subject ‘I also remember what I was taught’ and by now a heterodox for looming gaps between idealistic teachings and contrary realities. That passionate ‘Ameen’ which shook the Shimla Pahari (mountain), we in our youthful exuberance  thought was just a figure of speech. It turned out to be a marriage vow ‘till death do us part’ and is taken in literal terms and be rest assured that the fielding is set till grave. I would often joke that I didn’t take the vow and long live the Queen Elizabeth II. Her passing laid that joke to rest.

Everything is politicised and cricket is no exception. Between India and Pakistan cricket diplomacy is not a new thing specially now when Chairman ICC is former BCCI secretary and son of Indian Home Minister whereas ours is two-in-one.

Trending in US and rest of the world is that ‘you were not rich, famous or powerful enough to be in Epstein Files’. Surprisingly, one Pakistani found a mention in the group of extraordinary gentlemen. However, to the dismay of prescribed narrative, he is mentioned for all the wrong reasons. Let’s see if they can tweak it a little to discredit him on this count as well. For all the powerfuls and invincibles in Pakland, you were not powerful enough to set feet on Little Saint James. So kerp working hard and more power to you.

Staying on Epstein, Bill Gates’ act reminded me of Chinese Proverb,’May you live in interesting times’.  The Champion of Health projects across the world contracted STD from a Russian ‘pro’ & stealthily tried dropping antibiotic in Melinda’s brew (his wife). How caring !!!

The world you live in and the things as they appear to you right now will change drastically in less than five years. So make the best of the time you have. Have a wonderful Thursday and why not, this day was honoured by my Master (SAW) with consistent voluntary fasting.
